Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA)

Presentation of the Organization

The AUMA was founded in 1905 and represents Alberta's 272 urban municipalities. The association represents and advocates the interests of all members to both the provincial and federal governments as well as other provincial and federal organizations.

AUMA's goal is to develop a strong partnership between all three levels of government through a shared vision with long term planning that would facilitate social and economic growth, a strategic and stable founding matrix for capital projects, vital emergency and social services as well as implementation and coordination in the delivery of these services to ensure the sustainability of the Alberta Advantage.

In 2012, AUMA's Board approved a project to develop municipal water policies over a period of several years. The objective of the policies is to:

  • Build municipal capacity to respond to water related challenges and opportunities.
  • Respond effectively to provincial and federal legislation, policy and initiatives related to water.
