Crowe Valley Conservation Authority (CVCA)

Presentation of the Organization

The CVCA is a corporate body established under the Conservation Authority Act of Ontario to further the conservation, development, and management of natural resources in partnership with its member municipalities and the Province. It was formed in 1958 and it covers an area of 2000 square kilometres in Southeastern Ontario. The Crowe River system flows into the Trent River System, which empties into the Bay of Quinte at Lake Ontario.

The aims of the CVCA are:

  • to carry out flood plan management
  • to maintain water levels
  • to establish outdoor recreation areas
  • to promote forest management and encourage reforestation
  • to promote conservation education
